As a white American guy who has had similar experiences, I suspect your challenges are mostly independent of your being Asian. Your difficulties with English may play a part, although not knowing you it's hard to say how much this would be a factor. In my experience, American society, and especially California, doesn't know what to do with introverts without much of a social network. It leaves them to the wayside to fend for themselves.
