I don't know if you're part of the "oh, users just hate change" crowd, but I kind of hope more software developers get bit by nonsense changes to interfaces. What you're saying here is exactly what we hear, all the time, from Firefox and Chrome and Office and online services users. A shame about Moniker BTW. The registrar I've been with since around 2001 has also recently made a mess of things.
