Ask HN: Race around condition in producer consumer cases

Lets say we have two threads. 1 is a producer & other is a consumer. Shouldn't OS consider adding a mechanism of telling the OS about the pair of thread being producer consumer rather than derive something out of platonic join or wait or semaphores?
