Clojure fans should look at http://overtone.github.io/ http://overtone.github.io/ for something similar.
Of particular note is the file https://github.com/overtone/overtone/blob/master/src/overtone/music/pitch.clj https://github.com/overtone/overtone/blob/master/src/overton... which is an absolute work of art.
- cachemeifyoucan 12y agoI highly recommend overtone as well. Very cool project!
- baldfat 12y agoI don't see this as similar? overtone = Composing with code (Something Music Suite isn't really doing of itself Music-Suite = Creating, processing or analyzing music (Also notating from my point of view)
- JonnieCache 12y agoHow do you see composing as different from creating in this context? (Not being sarcastic. It's an interesting distinction.)
- adwf 12y agoI love it when people write good docstrings for their functions. I always write them first and then finish the code. It makes it so much clearer what you are intending to do and helps cut down unnecessary comments.
- bloat 12y agoLeipzig is a application on top of Overtone which works at a similar level to The Music Suite i.e. scales, keys, phrases, melodies. https://github.com/ctford/leipzig https://github.com/ctford/leipzig https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp_kQh34EWA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lp_kQh34EWA
- coryfklein 12y agoOkay, so I'm totally new to clojure, but I'm trying to run pitch.clj that you linked. I installed leiningen and added overtone as a dependency. Then I cloned overtone to get pitch.clj. Now how in the world do I actually run the code in pitch.clj?
- tsm 12y agoThe parent poster didn't mean that you should just arbitrarily execute pitch.clj, but that it was a particularly elegant piece of code in terms of capturing pitch semantics with beautiful Clojure.
