Most - if not all - of these "secrets" are already included in the Computer Science/Software Engineering curricula.
At least they were in mine.
Still a good group of points for aspiring engineers.
- jimrhoskins 12y agoCurricula definitely vary. I can anecdotally confirm this list is spot on. I did learn SQL and regular expressions, but I'm pretty sure they were technically electives, so I could have graduated without it. All these other things I learned on the job (whilst attending school.)
- jinushaun 12y agoThese things weren't included in my official curricula. Maybe over-achievers in the class learned it on their own, but if a CS degree is actually supposed to represent something of value, it should at least teach these basic industry/vocational programming skills. You graduate college treating programming tasks like homework when the real world is far from it.
