There is nothing wrong in following traditions or coming up with new traditions which are totally irrational. I am an hardcore atheist but I visit temples, perform puja and chant mantras. There is nothing to be apologetic about it. A lot of negative propaganda against Hindu traditions is driven by left liberals who view Hinduism and Paganic beliefs as evil.
