At work when we've contracted with firms, a lot of times the agreements include a few months of paid maintenance (two or three hours per month at a reasonable rate) to cover this stuff. That way they don't disappear and leave us with bugs nor will they feel shafted by our requests to fix issues. Everyone is happy :).
