How to get push notifications for Rails and Ruby security updates
- thibaut_barrere 12y agoI'm curious to know what other people use to stay up-to-date when it comes to Ruby security. Comments welcome.
- jacquesm 12y agoAre those apps also available for Android?
- thibaut_barrere 12y agoI believe IFTTT has a way to notify Android devices - I googled quickly and found this: https://ifttt.com/android_notifications https://ifttt.com/android_notifications. Otherwise you can still keep the idea (basically: RSS to push) to find another solution on the same principle.
- jacquesm 12y agoCool, thank you!
- fny 12y agoI'm subscribed to Ruby's news feed[0], which includes security alerts. I also track Ruby's security page[1] for changes using Follow That Page[2]. Rails has a Google group[3] dedicated to security issues to which I've subscribed. I also have IFTTT send me text messages when I receive an email from one of those sources. - jamesbritt 12y agoI have a cron-driven script that pulls data from web.nvd.nist.gov and builds a site header for ruby-doc.org when there are any alerts within the last 2 weeks.
- thibaut_barrere 12y agoPretty cool! I wondered how this was updated.

- eli 12y agoIFTTT on Android has notifications built-in. You can just skip the Boxcar step.
