It's a bit dead now, but there is a great little Pascal derived language called Turing used in Ontario schools. It is shipped as this one exe which is a text editor as well as running the code with F1, and docs on F8-10. It made it super simple to get stuff on the screen and start making a simple game. It made our high school programming classes awesome. There were no libraries by third parties or anything, but we could implement everything for a 2-D game ourselves and it was pretty great. There was never any setup problems or pain like that, which was also awesome. Also a code-formatter was on F2, so everyone's code looked sane.
