If Amazon saw that there was a need for editorial services, which I'm sure they would, they'd find a way to provide it and make it work. If nothing else, Amazon is an incredibly adaptable company. As you hint at, it could even be an opt-in service. If you have an editor that you like, you could use that service (which could be anyone) instead of Amazon's.
