So common? Does this journalist have no knowledge of Usenet? It's not common, it's older than most websites these days. To suggest Flaming and Trolling are unique to comments is false. They predate comments by years.
- was_hellbanned 12y agoI think it's safe to say that modern Web commenting utterly dwarfs the entire history of Usenet posting, making the latter pretty much irrelevant except as a historical note. Look at the article's definition of trolling. They use "troll" as a codeword for "asshole". Real trolling is an art. You put some bait on a hook and see who bites.
