I own an ipad and I disdain the thing. It's useful when it's useful, but the painful input makes it something I can't use regularly. I want to, but the input is just too painful for me. I've been considering purchasing a bluetooth keyboard for it for years specifically because I want it to be more useful for me. When the Surface first came out, I thought "MS has it right, that is what I want". Reading your comment reinforces my idea that they went in the right direction, and I may start considering a purchase.
