This worked nicely for me when I switched a while back: RewriteRule ^blog/\d/\d/(.+) http\:\/\/www\.example\.com\/blog\/$1 [R=301,L] Also if you pull the authorship code from the template, make sure you don't leave any class="hentry" unless you like seeing a crap load of structured data error messages in WMT about missing author details. I don't remember seeing any mention of reserved class names in the HTML spec so it would be nice if the Googlebot was a little smarter about that.
