For some company (a two person cpy), I'm using Mailchimp to send emails to their 3500 clients. The thing is, I don't really want a mailing list stuff.
Today, what are my options if I just want to send HTML emails through outlook to my 3500 subscribers, without being flagged as SPAM ?
- primitivesuave 12y agoI wanted the exact same thing, and couldn't find it. Mail clients seem to be built with average users as the primary focus. However, you could quickly hack something together with SendGrid or any other mailing service, and get some analytics on how many messages are being marked as spam.
- Kiro 12y agoHow can they know if they are marked as spam?
- derwiki 12y agoSeed email accounts are one method. I know ReturnPath had hundreds (thousands?) of mail accounts at various ISPs and that would be included on mass mailings and checked. You know it's supposed to show up because you sent it -- does it? If not you might be getting marked as spam.
- primitivesuave 12y agoI actually have no idea, I just know that on my SendGrid dashboard there is a graph for what percentage are being marked as spam. I agree that it's a bit fishy as I have never seen it as anything other than 0% - my research group has many projects that are sending a lot of emails, so I'd expect at least one or two of those emails to hit a spam folder somewhere.
- eli 12y agoYahoo, GMail, AOL (and perhaps a few other providers) have "feedback loops" with the big email service providers that allows them to see who is marking what messages as spam. Mailchimp in particular is pretty aggressive about terminating your account if too many people mark you as spam.
- jdjb 12y agoMailchimp offers Mandrill, which is a basic SMTP service.
- icelancer 12y agoYeah, Mandrill/Mailgun/etc work just great. Used it in my last company.
- dbpatterson 12y agoMandrill is transactional, so would be a no go for sending a message to 3500 clients. Mailchimp and mandrill don't overlap.
- ceejayoz 12y agoFalse. http://help.mandrill.com/entries/22242948-What-is-Mandrill- http://help.mandrill.com/entries/22242948-What-is-Mandrill- > Technically, though, you can send any legal, non-spam emails through Mandrill.
- alecsmart1 12y agoMailgun provides you with smtp protocol. So you can add it to Outlook and send your email. Definitely possible. Don't know how efficient it might be though.
