In ZSH, you can setopt autopushd to have cd work like pushd. And setopt pushdignoredups is probably helpful too as it will not push the same direct

In ZSH, you can
setopt autopushd
to have cd work like pushd.
And
setopt pushdignoredups
is probably helpful too as it will not push the same directory multiple times on the stack.
