Aspen to Students: Your Property Book is Not Your Property
- a3n 12y agoI know it's not easy, but the only way to fight this outside of the Supreme Court is a boycott. If no good response is received from asking to avoid these kinds of texts, then switch professors, switch majors, switch schools, if you can. Tell them why. Easy for me to say, I realize. But professors and schools are commercial entities, and the bottom line is the bottom line. They may profit in some way from assigning these texts, but they can't profit if there's no one to assign them to.

Some have even written free, "open source" textbooks for the classes they teach: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_textbook https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_textbook Hopefully, open textbooks will be a growing trend.
