The problem with CASE tools is that any system composed of "(CONFIGURATION+CASE_TOOL) => (GENERATED_CODE+COMPILER) => STATIC_PROGRAM" could be replaced with just "DYNAMIC_PROGRAM + CONFIGURATION". The generation of the source code and then compiling it is an unnecessary middle step.
