Things like Gmail and Google Voice weren't a particularly big deal to me. Fastmail is more then reasonable of a replacement for mail, and in place of Voice, well, unlimited long distance isn't all that hard to get. In lieu of call distribution, I'll just forward them manually if I need to be reached somewhere else.
- icantthinkofone 12y agoNo big deal to you. Plenty of big deal to others including myself. I have no reason not to trust Google.
- doctorshady 12y agoSorry, let me rephrase that. Finding an alternative to them was no big deal for me.
- liviu 12y agoFrom google services I use only the search engine. So far I don't see any real alternative.
- dublinben 12y agoHave you used DDG? I find it's perfectly usable as a general-purpose search engine.
- doctorshady 12y agoI thought Startpage was effectively anonymized Google? I will say they kinda suck for searches with boolean operators, though. What with all the DMCA takedowns Google gets, that might be a moot point for some things anyway.
