- JoeAltmaier 13y agoSerial busses are fault-tolerant without cross-traffic disruption. One controller on a shared bus going bad ruins the party for everybody.
- valarauca1 13y agoOn a serial bus no. An RS-485/428 bus and individual controller can die and the bus functionality is not destroyed. To achieve the behavior you described devices would have to bridge the connections, not be wired in parallel. This assumes PCIe can handle that connection style, which I understand the standard little, so I could be completely off base.
- rwmj 13y agoTo be honest I didn't know that connecting them with PCIe was a possibility. Now I see it is, I may try that, so thanks :-)
- valarauca1 13y agowhen I say 'possibility', I should put more quotes around it. I know BlueGene (I one of the 00's top 10 super computers) did the interconnections of its processors with PCIe
