I am no expert in this, But In my experience thinking in logically makes you a better programmer. Without writing your code if you can walk through the process of how you're gonna implement it, you are a good developer. I first saw a computer 8 years ago. started coding 4 years back, now I am the technical co-founder of a startup. I'm no expert but I can get the shit done. Think like product, and the rest will fall in place.
