Thanks for posting this! The title sounds like we're doing full-text search. But we also do something far more valuabel: We download all your email to your iPhone for offline access. For the first time ever, you can have all your emails in your pocket. And they take up less space than you’d think: 100k emails need about 500MB on your phone. (=6% of a 8 GB iPhone, the smallest you can buy)

  Yes, lazily. You open them, they get downloaded, and then remain on your phone permanently. If you have a PDF or something that you always want with you, just open it in reMail and it'll be on your phone.

500MB for 100K equals something like 5KB per message. And that's in the compressed form I assume. Since it's all text, with a decent compression, that's still 20KB of text per message (which I think can be achieved if you strip out the excessive html, styling elements..etc). Still not bad at all to have all mails in your pocket.

"For the first time ever, you can have all your emails in your pocket." That is one great selling point. That alone means I don't need to be connected to the net to go back to my email and read that blog post (I read several blogs by email). Also the data could be accessible to other web/mobile/desktop applications that want to harvest it.
