I think it depends on what you need to sync, but I've also had this problem and have found something that works for me. I use Sublime Text for both development and quickly "jotting" things down. I keep 2 copies in my Dropbox, which is installed on all my computers, and have 1 for work, another for personal. Anytime I need to jot something down, it gets synced to all my computers regardless of whether I need it to or not. I don't have to spend time thinking about it. It may seem weird at first but it's become second nature for me.
