I was planning to architect a new system using SOA (or the newly-hyped microservices), then realised the complexity it'd bring. Each individual system is easy to debug, test etc. Debugging what's wrong when the output isn't what you expect - much harder. Not sure what's the boring (vs familiar) option here, but the old adage "All that gleams isn't gold" is true...
