Unfortunately the tech sector is fairly well paid so we are the least likely to move since we will gain the least from a move, whereas middle-income wage earners will gain the most from a move since they'll be able to afford rental units that won't cost them 90% of their monthly wages. The middle-wage earners are significantly less mobile since their profession is likely to be deeply rooted in their current location. They are feeling much more of the pain than people in the tech sector. Most of us in the tech sector are young and single and least likely to go house hunting, so the expensive housing is painful for us, but probably affects us the least.
