What kind of obligations has the company with him? just a salary/contract? part of the ownership? So yeah, the vesting is key. It simply doesn't resound logical to me that they are talking about firing him while at the same time he's needed for some months. Sounds ridiculous that they wouldn't have any role for him in that case, even if not as lead dev. Reeks like backstabbing politics, so par for the course in the startup world.
