Stack Overflow Down
- deleted 13y ago[deleted]
- lawl 13y agoI'm sorry. Am I the only one not getting all the Github/Stackoverflow/whatever down threads? What's interesting about it? Sites are down from time to time, if they are and you need then, you probably notice. Otherwise, if you don't need them you obviously don't care...
- bottled_poe 13y agoAre you sure you are in the right place? It certainly seems relevant to "Hacker News" to me.
- victormx 13y agoIn HN not all are developers or coders. Edit: someone who use stackoverflow at least once a day
- nextweek2 13y agoFrom the Guidelines: "What to submit <snip> anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity." Submitting a website down page does not gratify one's intellect, its just stating a fact. A post-downtime review would classify as gratifying. Please people stop submitting website down articles, they are always back up by the time I get to them and there is not explanation as what happened and why.
- rajeemcariazo 13y agoFor me, I found them interesting because they are among the biggest, highly reputable websites for developers. I am also excited to know what causes the down time and how they addressed the problems if there are.
- richardw 13y agoI find it interesting because SO is run by top-notch ops and dev people and the outage reasons could well be educational. What happened? Why? What can we all learn from it?
- lawl 13y agoOkay, but why not just link to a writeup of what the issue was afterwards. THAT would be interesting. The fact that it is down right now. Not so much, imho.
- grrowl 13y ago+1. Posting about it here doesn't help, fix, or even educate anyone. It's more "water cooler conversation" than informative. Major planned maintenance (esp. for GitHub which people rely on for pushing code) would be good so we can plan workarounds or defer deployment, but otherwise not.
- bottled_poe 13y agoIt's not just water cooler conversation, it causes said conversations to occur.
- hoozecn 13y ago+1 You are not the only one.
- a9entroy 13y agoSometimes sites are not down and you need them but you are unable to open them. Same reason sites like these exist https://status.github.com/ https://status.github.com/ http://www.google.com/appsstatus#hl=en&v=status http://www.google.com/appsstatus#hl=en&v=status
- laurencei 13y agohttp://stackstatus.net/ http://stackstatus.net/ doesnt show anything (yet)
- hieudang9 13y agojust tumblr blog, not real-time status page like statuspage.io
- mgolawala 13y agoWhatever the issue, I am pretty sure they can just Google it and find the answer on .... wait a minute... They better get it up quickly, or coders the world over will be late meeting their deadlines. :) Seriously though, I cannot count the number of hours this site has saved me. This tool has done more for software developers than IDEs.
- yla92 13y agoNot only Stackoverflow, Superuser.com, Serverfault.com and whole StackExchange sites seem down.
- Beltiras 13y agoI felt a great disturbance in the flow, as if millions of ideas suddenly failed to form and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
- platinumdragon 13y ago"Bill the Lizard" and his cohorts shut down the site from being useful long ago. No news here, move along.
