I snooped the traffic and it does not seem to send traffic to proxies if you configure it correctly to not do so. I've moved from Dropbox to BTSync for 1Password sync and am comfortable with it. Of course, if an open source alternative comes up, I'm willing to consider it. There's AeroFS, but I hate Java apps so that's a non-starter for me.
