I do this because I don't want to spend too much time reading crap or second-rate writing. Essentially stuff someone decided to blog because they're bloggers or had a "cool" idea. If something takes 30 minutes to write, I probably want to spend about 30 seconds reading it. But on great works which an author has spent years thinking about before even committing it to writing; or have gone through several revisions of it, I will devote my time to slow-reading and understanding.
