Introducing IFTTT for iPad and the iOS Notifications Channel
- Ecio78 13y agoIFTTT could be nice but I'm having some problems using it even for a simple operation. I want to do one simple thing, alert my wife when I'm near her office so she can get out without me sending messages or calling her while driving. I've not yet find a way do do it: first of all you can use the iOS Locations, but you can't combine two different "this", so I can't add, as I'd like, an additional condition on the time ("i'm near her office and it's between 5pm and 7pm"). Ok, I can't live without it, but it would be better to have two conditions. On the other side ("that") I've tried: SMS: you can't send to a number different than yours / you can only set one number for the SMS channel (with a PIN validation) / you can't have multiple SMS channels Email: it seems you can only send an email to yourself I could probably use Gmail (by reading info here and there it looks it could support multiple recipients) but I'd prefer not to configure my personal Gmail account on my company-controlled phone Whatsapp: it is not supported as a channel (same for Hangouts afaik)
- mrtibbets 13y agoHere's a few options you might try: —Activate the SMS Channel with your wife's cell number instead of yours, that way when you're near using an iOS Locations Recipe she gets the text instead of you. —Do the same thing but with the Phone Call Channel instead: https://ifttt.com/phone_call https://ifttt.com/phone_call —Use Twitter to send Direct Messages to your wife when you're near with this Recipe: https://ifttt.com/recipes/132947-nearly-home-direct-message-the-person-who-should-know https://ifttt.com/recipes/132947-nearly-home-direct-message-... —Lastly, you could install any number of the notifications apps supported (Boxcar, Pushover, Pushbullet) on your wife's phone and use that specific account on IFTTT to send notifications. What do you think? I hope this helps! —Alexander, who works at IFTTT.
