Problem is the data, not really the computer. I know a mac is expensive but i couldnt care less if mine was stolen, the data is what is the most valuable.Same with the phone.
Thieves are selfish, sociopathic persons who will exploit everything they can from their action, including the data on a laptop.
- leephillips 13y agoThe idea is not just that I'm only out $200 if it gets stolen; it's that, since it has negligible resale value, the thieves won't bother with it - not worth the risk. Also, I have a half dozen of these at home (on the home ThinkPadNet), so I just have to pick up another one, pull from one of my personal git repositories, and keep working. Also, before getting up to go to the bathroom I unmount the ecryptfs volume that holds anything sensitive.
