The level of support for this Eich character is truly mind-boggling. Here is a man who is against LGBT rights, going as far as to pay money to support a law denying them rights, and he is being sympathised with because but but muh free speech.
- rys 13y agoOh come on, there's a lot more nuance and depth to the issue than one thing he did, and free speech. To distill it down to that is what's truly mind-boggling.
- true_religion 13y ago> The level of support for this Eich character is truly mind-boggling I'm not going to state my opinion on the topic, but I've seen others claim that as much as 60% of the population was pro-proposition 8 (seems reasonable since it did pass). If that's true, then it should be no surprise that many-many people would supple Eich simply because they share his views. Granted they may want to cloak it as free-speech to avoid being targeted directly, but surely some people on HN have to share his views.
