Mozilla still has three big problems – and now it needs a new CEO
- SixSigma 13y agoI did leave Firefox for a while and went to Chromium thinking trading in for speed was a good move. FF's real problem is that it was always a browser for the knowledgeable computer user an it wasn't Internet Explorer (or Exploder as it was known). Chrome's anti-user practices clash with their pro-user ones - hard coding DNS lookups for certain services and preventing anti-tracking to favour Google's revenue stream; the price you pay for fast Javascript. The arguments for dumping IE are unlikely to sway many people, especially now the security is much improved. You kind of have to ask : Firefox, what is it for ? Remember that it exists at all because it was built as a lean and mean version of Mozilla but then became the champion resource hog. I am still a Firefox user, both on desktop and on Android where I find it the superior product for my needs. I think they are distracting themselves with Firefox OS and seem to be betting the farm. And still no integrated calendar in Thunderbird.
