Not sure if this happens to many people who are well immersed in the tech industry now, but I have had my future career reduced to just "sitting at a desk all day" by friends going into more "labor" intensive careers. They constantly bring it up as something they would never want to do because it sounds boring. This also leads to some resentment from them when I have had a steady paid internship since my sophomore year of college, while all they have gotten is unpaid internships or nothing at all. I personally have never let this bother me because I know what goes into my work and I know how difficult it can be.
