This is a great hack, but whoever explained C pointers to the copywriter did a bad job. Maybe they confused in-process pointers with kernel virtual memory management, but the operating system doesn't reach into a process's address space and move memory blocks around and rewrite pointers. A language runtime or a memory management library can do that, but it's a little more complicated than pointer-to-a-block-that-gets-moved. It's more like using indirect or doubly indirect pointers and stuff.
Grokking pointers is hard enough as is. I weep for all the wannabe systems programmers who will get confused by this otherwise very nice announcement.
