Ask HN: Tsunami app suggestions

For the last two weeks, I've been working on a Tsunami app that displays messages from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center. Currently I have a list of messages, and when you tap on a message, it displays a screen with half map and half web view: http://imgur.com/a/0qpke Instead of starting with a full list of texts, how would the experience be with the first screen as a half map and half list and when you tap on a message, it displays a full web view?
