  Unite3D delivers a kickass plugin for games. http://unity3d.com/ http://unity3d.com/ But it's a commercial product and might be too expensive for the OpenCiv guys.

  Quake Live uses a plugin. It doesn't "run in the browser" like one might expect something to "run in a browser."

    That was part of my point. Instead of trying to do in something that was not meant for it, consider an alternative way.
