- ah- 13y agoTypically the worst blob are the GPU drivers, and it seems to work with the normal open source i915 driver, which is pretty much as good as it gets.
- voltagex_ 13y agoSorry, I missed that this had got quite a lot of attention! http://uefidk.intel.com/content/minnowboard-uefi-firmware-eula http://uefidk.intel.com/content/minnowboard-uefi-firmware-eu... says >The MinnowBoard EDKII Firmware kit is not available as a full open source release (BSD license). The CPU and chipset initialization code is currently provided as a binary module. The binary module is incorporated into the final firmware image as part of the build process. So graphics & motherboard seem to be open, bootloader is open-ish.
- vonmoltke 13y agoAs far as my EE-addled brain is concerned, there are 5100 pages of deliciousness: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/atom-e3800-family-datasheet.pdf http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/...
- Torgo 13y agoApparently the UEFI implementation it requires to boot is not open source :-(
- mark-r 13y agoAny way to replace it with a BIOS, e.g. Coreboot?
