With the ease of getting pirated software the argument that people would use these long trials time after time in VMs doesn't stand up I believe, and shouldn't stop them being used. Personally I preferred the trials that allowed "30 launches" of the program - so if I only found 5 days over 6 months to evaluate the software I was able to - and still had another 25 trial-days left to test it.
