While 2048 certainly cloned threes, I agree with others that threes benefited more with the proliferation of 2048. On that note, I also think it's more interesting to discuss WHY 2048 spread so far and so quickly. Yeah, it's super addicting, but does anyone else think it's related to the fact it was released open source? If you were to look at the top 50 posts on HN in the last month, I bet 10 are variations of that game. Which is pretty remarkable and no one is talking about.
