Not sure if you saw http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/6299 http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/6299 but even before then I'm not sure I would imply that Broadcom hasn't been supportive. The thing was designed by someone employed full-time as a Broadcom engineer, after all.
