Are you sure? What did you know of their situation (financial, etc)?

  It doesn't matter. OP was putting the blame on Facebook, where a deal has always a signature from all involved parties. Regardless of their situation, one can always say no. It is a matter of convictions and being able to live with the consequences. Apparently, getting money was more important.

  There's no way they could be wanting for investors. There's likely to be more to this deal than meets the eye.
