WYSIWIG formatting woes are all real, they're just not something users understand. (My head explodes when classes are stripped off of a div every time the form is submitted...) If I were the King of the Internet and had to choose one tool for text entry it would be a system sort of like Ghost/Prose.io, where you use Markdown, but can see the results. So even laymen can get the swing of the tool developers prefer. As King, I would also levy a tax.
