Having been in a similar place myself, the solution is to host your own repos for packages and deployment config using Git. Never rely on the remote internet to be as consistent as internally-hosted code. Of course it'd be wonderful if you could do without, but somewhere you'll have to specify and track version numbers in a text file and Git's as good a way as any to track and tag that.
