I like the idea of a blind evaluation, but I can't get past how impossibly awkward it would be to have to keep switching between coding and communicating with my "partner" via an IM window. Speaking a question out loud while I'm looking at code and my hands hover above the keyboard? Sure, that's using separate channels. Having to switch windows and type out my question? Huge context switch. Not sure how badly that would affect the evaluation, but it seems like it would be significant.
