First of all, hijackers would have threatened passengers to give them their mobile phones.
If the plane indeed was landed on a remote airport with the passengers alive, the hijackers would have stripped the passengers of their clothes to ensure nobody could bring weapons or devices with them.
By now, most mobile phones (even the Nokia developing world ones) would have been out of battery.
- userbinator 13y agoI find it a little disturbing that the passengers would be so docile, especially after 9/11.
- bruceb 13y agoWell problem is for them the cockpit door is very secure. They can try to open it all day but they will not be able to.
- rafe33 13y agoThere is a theory that the rapid ascent to 45,000 feet was done to deprive the passengers of oxygen and incapacitate them.
- jimktrains2 13y agoFrom what I've read that theory is bullocks because 45k is still in the safety margins the plane was designed for.
- knowaveragejoe 13y agoWikipedia puts the service ceiling at 43,100 ft (13,140 m). I imagine it could surpass that though without depressurization.
- rasz_pl 13y agoYou dont know Asian culture then. Standing up to an Authority FigureIts is almost unheard of in Asia. People get yelled at and lied to on a daily basis in Asia by everyone above their station and they take it up the ass like a little yellow troopers. Mianzi is more important than truth.
- sschueller 13y agoThere could still have been a phone in a checked bag. They may have also gone the route of suffocating everyone by climbing to 45,000 depressurized instead of threatening passengers and risking a hero. Sure the batteries would be dead now but what about connection that were made before they landed? I though that data is stored by most phone companies upto at least 6 months. The fuel would have gone out before most of the phones I would think. If they landed and passed any tower while doing so there is a chance something was picked up.
