Marco his site is full of pretentious link-baiting populist trash. I am surprised to see some people even take him as an authority other than as a notorious Apple-shill.
This three-character fluff title to bait even more clicks to his blog full of void is the final nail to the coffin. In two seconds I can think of a dozen better titles ("Use Analytics to track high-DPI-screens", "Custom variable for high-DPI-screens in Google Analytics", "Look at me I was on the frontpage of Hacker News", "I am so edgy, I will just give my article a nothing-saying three-character title").
The worst part is that due all the attention he gets from this, he and other people will somehow be under the impression that this was a successful endeavor. Bad publicity is publicity too, something like that. Please.
- eridius 13y agoHe's not "bait[ing] even more clicks to his blog". He's reacting to a HN comment from his previous post: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7405846 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7405846. He even linked to it in the footnote. Obviously you've already made up your mind about Marco and consider anything he ever writes to be garbage, but claiming that a title like "and" is click-baiting is completely nonsensical. As is complaining about his writing without even paying the slightest bit of attention to it.
- igravious 13y agoThe title is a direct response to a(n) HN comment made in response to the last front-page hitting post. See here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7405846 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7405846 It was even linked in a footnote to the article (if one reads that far). So the title is intentional, non click-baity and a humourous riposte. Care to change your analysis?
- dasil003 13y agoIs Marco putting out ground-breaking, must-read content on a regular basis? No. But he does occasionally make a good point. What I'm more interested in understanding is why you are so filled with hatred for him? He seems to attract well more than his fair share of vitriol. Why the hate?
