Anecdotal, but I have a friend who worked at eBay 'schland and at a ring tone company in Berlin. She was stunned at how everybody treated her like a toy, like a girl to be played with. One of her bosses told her outright that he would just steal her ideas, take credit for it and never give her a raise or credit. After years here she finally moved back to the US. She now does iOS and rails development in SF/Oakland. Another friend of mine is German, female and doing well in iOS dev in Berlin now. Anecdotal. So it's not 100% bad and German tech environment is improving overall I would say.
