I for one I'm grateful I came across a speed reading book while in high school. I was reading about 150 wpm by then, after a month going through the exercises I had increased it to around 450 wpm. Comprehension is the biggest question from skeptics and it is understandable: we are taught to read out loud so our reading speed and comprehension becomes limited to the speed of speech. Re-learning read (and comprehend) without vocalizing the words in your mind is the hardest part. Once you get that, the sky is the limit.
