I'm learning Lua. No idea what I would use it for, especially given JavaScript's striking similarities. Probably the most interesting app I've found is Luvit, a descendant of Node. Libuv and http-parser are C, so it's not a crazy idea. I like it.
If you know a better way of using async i/o in Lua, I'm all ears.
