I have no clue how anyone could justify downvoting your comment. It's hard to believe that anyone downvoting you could be a hiring manager in a technical field. I have had extremely similar experiences looking for both experienced and junior candidates, and with the price of senior candidates it's a costly mistake on a bad hire.
